Look for our treats in our online store and in local retailers at the end of January.

New classes are here!

We're pleased to announce the launching of our new group class format. With the new format training classes are flexible to your schedule rather than you having to flex your schedule to the training.

To attend the training classes you must first attend an orientation session. Our first orientation will be held August 23 at 7pm. at the Holland ball park.

Many thanks go out the village of Holland for letting me hold classes there, and to Casey Lomonoco for help in making the transition to the new format.

Fundraiser for Tri-County Animal Shelter and Rescue

Dog Training by Jess will be at the fundraiser for Tri-County on May 22nd.

This great rescue is trying to raise funds to put up a building, they really need it.This rescue will serve Pipestone, Rock and Nobles county.

Events for this fundraiser include: Live band, Silent auction, and Pet Portraits.

Dog Training by Jess will be on hand with education materials and to answer behavior questions. Jess is even thinking about breaking her face painting brushes for the kids.

We've also got a great gift basket planned for the silent auction. It will include: a Lupine leash and collar set, don't worry if its not the set you wanted or it won't fit your dog, we're making the set exchangeable for any Lupine product we have on hand. The basket will also include a dog toy, home made dog treats which no dog can resist, a poo bag dispenser that attaches to your leash and more! Jess is constantly finding things to add to this basket, its bound to be our biggest product donation yet!

Come Celebrate Train Your Dog Month and Jess's Birthday!!

Mark your calendars for January 16th, 2010 when Dog Training by Jess will be celebrating Train Your Dog Month and Jess's Birthday with an all day event at the Pipestone National Guard Armory in Pipestone MN.

We will have several events for you and your dog to compete in, CGC testing, and cake too!

H3N8 Dog Flu

Some of you may have seen the recent story on KSFY news about the Dog Flu.

We haven't heard of any cases in our area yet, but rest assured that we are staying on top of this as we do with other health related topics. Your pets health and well being is important to us.

For more information please see Key Facts About Canine Influenza.

Lupine Collars and Leads are here!

I often tell people that Lupine collars and leads are the last ones you'll ever buy. Why? They have the best guarantee on the market. If your collar or leash breaks or even if it gets chewed they'll replace free of charge; no hoops to jump through, no strings attached, just bring the broken collar or leash back and get the same size for free. Its that simple.

I'm proud to be able to offer this fine line of products. Check out our new Lupine section in the store today.

Dog Training by Jess serves the SW MN area, with our office located in Pipestone. At the current time we do not have a training facility, instead our classes are offered at various locations throughout the Pipestone community and right in your own home.

Our Philosophy

We believe that the bond between a dog and owner is a special one. This bond can be strengthened through training, especially training that is fun, rewarding and positive for everyone. A well trained dog makes for a happy dog, and a happy owner.

Whether you’ve just gotten a new puppy, or have an older dog who could use some manners or a ‘doggie tune-up’ we’ve a got a program for you.

Dog Training by Jess, we’re not just for the dogs!

Our methods can even be used to train the family cat.

Why train your cat? Training your cat has many benefits:

             *Mental Stimulation

             *Exercise

             *Its fun

*Impress your friends with your smart kitty

             *And more

We’re still working out the finer details of this class, but in the meantime feel free to call and schedule some private cat training sessions. You’ll be amazed at what your cat can learn.

The Dog Training by Jess difference

We know that pets and their owners weren't made with cookie cutters, and your training program shouldn't be either. When you choose us for your training needs you'll be getting a custom designed training program based on you and your pets needs. No two programs are alike, while one person may want obedience ring heeling, the next may just want to walk without their dog pulling, that's all taken into account.

In addition we take a full approach to training. Training isn't the only thing that affects the behavior, well being and health of your pet and we know that. We'll also take a look at your pets diet, health concerns and more and work with you and your veterinarian to optimize the health and well being of your pet. This leads to a more well rounded approach which in the end leads to better training and a great bond with your pet.

For some behavior issues we may ask that you have your pet seen by your vet prior to or during training. This is because some issues can be rooted in a health problem and until we address the medical problem we can't fully address the behavioral problem. It would be unfair to everyone involved to try to do so. No one can learn if they aren't feeling well.

Education

Not only do we educate pets and their owners we are continually educating ourselves. What the world knows about behavior, training, and health is continually changing. We owe it to ourselves and our clients to keep up to date on the latest information regarding behavior, training, health, nutrition and more.
